Travel to Zakynthos, Greece
As you all know, we have been to Zante to have a look around and do our research on the area. We'd like to share our findings with you as you might find this helpful when you plan your trip to Greece.
The BEST solution is to book a package holiday with tour operators:
- Thomson (webite)
- Thomas Cook (webite)
- Jet2 Holidays (website)
You can, of course, book flight and hotel individually, however, this will most likely be more expensive.
Another airline flying to Zante from UK airports is EasyJet, but most likely more expensive then the above mentioned.
If you are coming from outside the UK, please check if your country has package holidays to Zante. If it doesn't, it might be convenient travel to London to use one of the UK agencies.
Otherwise you can check on SKYSCANNER or any other flight comparison website to find the flight.
Locations
The wedding venue is in Laganas, 15 minutes away from the airport. We'd suggest you stay in the area as there are plenty of bars, restaurants, a nice beach and if you want to have a fun night out, you don't have to drive to go back to your hotel.
All the towns are very close to each other, in 20 minutes by car/scooter you are able to reach your destination, so even if you prefer to stay elsewhere out of Laganas, that shouldn't be a problem as long as you have means of transport.
Tsilivi
- beautiful east coast seaside town
- quieter than Laganas (only a few bars and restaurants)
Kalamaki, Keri, Aresti
- next to Laganas & close to Zakynthos Town
- all are very nice, small & quiet south coast seaside towns
- Remember, you we'll need transport if you want to stay there
Zakynthos Town
- main city of the island on the east coast
- harbour town, no beach, but very close to Tsilivi and Aresti
Hotels
During the summer months, Zante is a very popular tourist destination. Similar to the flights, hotels are gone very quickly, so be the first to secure accommodation!
Here a few recommendations for your stay in LAGANAS:
• Ionis Art Hotel (website)
It's where we stay (24th to 31st July)
4stars, amazing rooms, great service, very close to the beach, big swimming pool, and close the main road and restaurants
NOTE: From the UK, please use Thomson to book. From outside the UK, book directly with the hotel, mention our names. We are currently dealing with them to see if and what they can do. Updates to follow.
• Atlantis Hotel (website)
beautiful hotel, just of the main road, 15 min to the beach
NOTE: From the UK please use Jet2. Also available on booking.com or expedia
• Cactus Hotel (website)
We stayed here for our holiday
Free wifi, spacious rooms, nice pool, 5 minutes to the beach and the main road
NOTE: From the UK please use Jet2. Also available on booking.com or expedia
• Natalie Hotel (website)
right next to Vezalis Beach bar (wedding venue)
on the beach and off the main road and tucked away from bars & clubs, quieter option and very comfortable hotel

• Helen Studios

• Dados Hotel (website)
Not far from Cactus Hotel, close to the beach and in front of the main disco beach club of Laganas "Pure"
NOTE: From the UK please use Thomson. You can also book directly on the hotel's website
• Canadian Hotel (website)
One of the biggest hotels, close to the beach, very nice recently refurbished studios
NOTE: From the UK please use Thomas Cook. Also available on
booking.com or directly on the hotel's website
• Aphrodite Studios
on the main road but at the very end, meaning it's far away from the busy strip, 30 minutes walk from the beach, pool, very comfortable
NOTE: From the UK please use Jet2. Not available to book on any other website
• Galaxy Hotel (website)
Not far from Dados and Cactus, by the beach, a Best Western Hotel, fully renovated, large pool area
NOTE: From the UK please use Thomas Cook. Also available on booking.com, expedia or directly on the hotel's website
Also another solution could be AirBnB for an accommodation more like "home", but be careful to check the location as it might be inland/far from the beach & restaurants or no pool.
Transport
In case you want to explore the island, the best thing is to hire a car, scooter or quad.
It's easy to drive across the island (we have done it!)
You can do this either in advanced online (google) or the easier option is locally as there are many place along the main roads. All pretty much the same price. (Online or locally)
Please don’t feel obligated to use any of the above, we just thought
it might be helpful to have a place to start.
